Minimum rate of pay: $26.40 PLUS Daily PAY

Position Purpose:

S5 North is a 34-bed medical inpatient unit housing medical observation, stroke, and general medicine patient populations. The unit has the capability to monitor up to 16 patients on telemetry. The staff work together as an interdisciplinary team to provide respectful, patient-centered care for a diverse patient population. 5 North offers great learning opportunities, the chance to learn and hone many skills, sets the foundation for nursing practice, and facilitates the development of critical thinking as care is provided to a variety of diagnoses. Nurses on this unit earn their NIHSS certification within the first 6 months of hire.

Shifts Available: - Night Shifts 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Day Shift 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Status Available: Full time, Part time Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of specialized nursing education and proof of successful completion of pharmacology course.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Requires current and active license to practice as LPN in State of Michigan.

  • Must have current or obtain during orientation and maintain Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).

What you will do:

  • Gathers and analyzes patient information

  • Develops, implements, evaluates and revises an individualized plan of care

  • Uses teach back methodology to educate patient and family

  • Actively seeks to prevent potential hospital acquired

  • Effectively communicates patient status, priority goals and interventions during consultations, rounds and handoffs

  • Follows all HIPAA policies and procedures

  • Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals
