Completes maintenance of the streets, drainage ways, and right of ways including but not limited to, snow and ice control operations, asphalt patching, concrete forming and finishing, drainage way maintenance, culvert installation, storm grate maintenance, street sweeping, sidewalk and handicap ramp sweeping, street island cleaning, trash cleanup, mowing operations, string trimmer operations, weed spraying, dump truck operation. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Maintains street infrastructure including but not limited to such programs as snow and ice control operations, asphalt patching, concrete forming and finishing, drainage way maintenance, culvert installation, storm grate maintenance, street sweeping, sidewalk and handicap ramp sweeping, street island cleaning, trash cleanup, mowing operations, string trimmer operations, weed spraying, dump truck operation. Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment.

Effectively communicates and interacts with all levels of personnel within the city in a positive, cooperative and professional manner.

Addresses citizen/customer concerns and/or forwards to the appropriate crewmember for more difficult situations.

Operates, inspects and maintains assigned equipment, including but not limited to front-end loader, backhoe, asphalt roller, concrete saw, hydro-tamper, slope and industrial mowing tractors, truck trailer, forklift, gator, sidewalk sweeper, and skid-steer, portable arrow board.

Informs streets supervisor, streets foreman, streets technician IV or street technician III of repair needs on equipment.

Performs shop and yard maintenance.

Responds to after hour emergencies within 30 minutes for snow and ice control operations, flooding and any other emergencies as needed or required.

Demonstrates a respectful attitude towards customers and coworkers that promotes teamwork, open communication, and effective customer service.

Acts with the customer in mind, responds to requests promptly and provides effective services or solutions for customers.

Exercises appropriate level of initiative and judgment to make decisions within the scope of assigned authority.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of public works and of street infrastructure construction, operation and maintenance.

Knowledge of knowledge the use of equipment used to maintain street infrastructure.

Knowledge of computer hardware and software to maintain a records system.

Knowledge of city safety policies and procedures.

Knowledge of flagging and signing and coning procedures, possession of flagging certification.

Experienced in usage of written and verbal communication skills.

Good understanding of adapting and changing focus in order to meet customer needs.

Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with all levels of personnel within the city in a positive and cooperative manner. OTHER FUNCTIONS:
