Lead Analyst - EHS Job Description Summary

Promotes a positive safety and health culture at all levels of the workforce through training and communication. Conducts studies and investigations to ensure compliance with government safety and health laws, standards and regulations, and industrial hygiene. Investigates incidents, accidents, and near misses. Promotes safety-conscious work performance, application of the hierarchy of controls, prevention through design, and training programs. Establishes management commitment to continuous improvement through policy and program development based on risk evaluation and evaluation of risk control strategies. Provides safety performance measures, evaluation of risk, and determines causes of events through analyses (e.g., radiation protection assessments).

CMP EHS Environmental Position handles:

  • Ensure regulatory agency filings, reports, notices, permit/license requirements are completed; ensure timely response to spill calls; ensure effective reporting and remedial clean-up; participate in Regulatory Agency Inspections and complete necessary follow-up; function as internal and external environmental subject matter expert; and respond to customers in a timely manner.
  • Conduct facility inspections to ensure Hazardous and Solid Waste, Universal Waste, Oil filled electrical equipment are managed properly at all service centers and satellite locations; manage Substation and Service Center SPCC plans and other specialty projects.
  • Identify, document and implement the Information Management Policy.
  • Help departments understand and manage environmental risk.
  • Conduct weekly in person/Teams meetings with other EHS personnel to ensure environmental regulatory issues and Avangrid requests are being met
  • preparing & conducting environmental compliance training
  • provide 24/7 coverage for spills and other EHS incidents
  • Maintain Information Management Policy, the Control of Documents and Records SOP and/or the 3E SDS data base

Long Description

The Lead Analyst - EHS for CMP helps reduce risk to acceptable levels; provides technical expertise for the elimination or mitigation of hazards; participates in efforts to reduce both the frequency and the severity of injuries and unwanted incidents; supports local workers in their safety efforts; contributes to the safety efforts of the larger organization; and helps track safety performance. Where appropriate, the Lead Analyst - EHS provides assistance to other Avangrid companies and supports storm restoration efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Help build and maintain a safe work culture. Support the safe behavior of company employees and contractors. Help evaluate risks and mitigate them to acceptable levels.
  • Conduct and document field safety audits, field contractor safety audits, and facility audits according to the company schedule.
  • Where applicable, help train employees in safety procedures.
  • Assist with post-incident response: help ensure employees get fast, appropriate treatment; help ensure required post-incident drug tests are administered; secure evidence for investigations; interview witnesses; collect post-incident data; prepare reports; help ensure all incidents, however minor, are reported in a timely manner.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, local, and company requirements.
  • Maintain 100 percent compliance with your own personal protective equipment.
  • Review job brief forms, provide feedback, and coach employees as appropriate.
  • Lead or participate in safety meetings or on safet teams.
  • Compile various reports and safety-related documents, as assigned.
  • Become familiar with the EHS system of record and monitor entries for completeness and accuracy.
  • Complete individual or group safety projects, as assigned.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor\'s Degree with a minimum of three years relevant experience, OR
  • Associates Degree with a minimum of five years relevant experience, OR
  • Ten years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to function as part of a team.
  • Able to work under tight deadlines with changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with utility natural gas operations a plus.
  • Familiarity with investor-owned utilities a plus.
