Applied Technology Services Implementation Engineer in Baltimore, Maryland

Applied Technology Services (ATS) is an IT systems integrator and has been a trusted partner to customers in the Mid-Atlantic region for 20 years. ATS is seeking to add an exceptionally skilled Implementation Engineer with expert knowledge of datacenter infrastructure to join our team. The main function of this resource will be the deployment of enterprise systems and the development of technical solutions as required by our customers.  There will be travel in the mid-Atlantic region and some after-hours work.  This is a full-time, hands-on, and remote position that requires:

Responsibilities

  • Design simple and complex architectures that address customers data center requirements.

  • Collect customer requirements and conduct environmental assessments to identify potential problems or possible enhancements.

  • Perform a Total Cost of Ownership analysis and provide alternatives to customers based on requirements and budget.

  • Provide information about products and services, including performing or coordinating demonstrations.

  • Provide training and knowledge on public, private and hybrid cloud options as well as datacenter optimization, redundancy, and high availability as required by the customer.

  • Proactively engage with customers to provide guidance on datacenter best practices.

  • Keep up to date on industry trends, cutting-edge technology, and new solutions for our customers’ needs.

  • Complete Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for solutions alternatives

  • Provide knowledge transfer, including documentation, to customers at the end of an engagement.

  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors to ensure projects are delivered as expected.

  • Implement new data center technologies in the customers environment, including servers, storage, router, switches, firewalls, and security systems.

  • Perform assessment, installation, and migration activities for newly implemented solutions.

  • Conduct evaluations of customer’s existing technology to determine if it can be enhanced or improved.

  • Learn to implement primary supported ATS technologies through coursework, shadowing and obtaining implementation certifications for identified manufacturers.

  • In-depth understanding of datacenter connectivity, such as fiber optic cabling, Ethernet, and network aggregation

  • Must be able to work as a team player and work independently.

  • Analytical, results-driven and have a solution-oriented approach.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant STEM field including Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant degrees.

  • 5+ years of business/information/solution/technical architecture experience.

  • Serve as a trusted partner for our customers, providing best practices and guidance on data center solutions.

  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V, and their impact on datacenter networking.

  • Proficient with multi-vendor data center offerings, to include Dell, HPE, Nutanix, Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, VMware, and many others.

  • Strong knowledge of datacenter routing and switching protocols, IP address mapping and VLAN

  • Proficiency in designing and implementing complex datacenter LAN and WAN topologies, incorporating redundancy and fault tolerance.

  • The ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with the customer and document technical concepts.

  • Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including verbal, written presentation and listening.

  • Ability to lift/carry weight up to 50 lbs.
