StreetLight is seeking a creative, versatile, and motivated Operations Engineer to be part of our growing team. This team member will work closely with other StreetLight team members, our SaaS application, and our application's users. By becoming an expert on our application’s infrastructure, engineering processes, and development tools - this team member will identify, communicate, and help implement changes and improvements to a variety of StreetLight’s systems and applications. This position reports to the Senior Director of Operations and IT.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide IT and DevOps support to Engineering projects within our cloud environment.

  • Monitor platform capacity, customer usage, and other performance metrics of the application.

  • Report on application usage, resource capacity, and other key performance indicators.

  • Gather and communicate cloud cost data to various teams and executives.

  • Design and implement spending monitoring and alerts.

  • Investigate and propose methods for reducing cloud cost across our cloud infrastructure.

  • Ensure smooth operations for our hosted cloud servers and applications.

  • Communicate platform issues, temporary solutions, and relevant updates to our customers.

  • Improve and expand our current tools and processes for security, back-ups, monitoring and resource management.

  • Recommend, design, and implement new alerts to improve platform stability and customer experience.

  • File and track new incidents from discovery through deployment.

  • Support Application Engineering investigations into new incidents and alerts.

  • Research, design and implement new solutions as needed.

  • Expand cloud operations for our planned European expansion.

  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and execute after-hours product deployments and maintenance.

  • Interface with vendors and contractors for outsourced functions.

  • Work effectively with Engineering, QA and Operations/IT team members, and identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of tools and processes.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • 5 years of experience with Linux environments, including extensive shell scripting (bash).

  • 3 years of experience with Ansible scripting and administration.

  • 3 years of experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
