Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education:

  • Associate's degree in any related field.

Required Experience:

  • Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level or equivalent.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of baseball coaching techniques, strategies, and player development principles.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to recruit, motivate, and mentor student-athletes from diverse backgrounds.

  • Commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence, sportsmanship, and personal growth.

  • Experience in field maintenance and turf management preferred.

  • Knowledge of NCAA and NJCAA rules and regulations preferred.

Job Concepts

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Head Baseball Coach. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and inspire student-athletes within our dynamic collegiate sports program. The Head Baseball Coach will be responsible for fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the field, promoting academic success, athletic achievement, and personal development among our student-athletes.

Coaching and Training:

Develop and implement comprehensive training programs designed to enhance the skills, techniques, and strategies of student-athletes. Provide instruction in all aspects of the game, including hitting, pitching, fielding, and base running. Conduct regular practice sessions, individualized training sessions, and team meetings to optimize performance.

Recruiting and Talent Identification:

Actively recruit talented student-athletes to join the BRCC baseball program. Identify and evaluate prospective players through scouting, networking, and participation in recruitment events. Build relationships with high school coaches, club teams, and other sources to attract top talent to the program.

Academic Support: Prioritize academic success and monitor the progress of student-athletes both in the classroom and on the field. Collaborate with academic advisors and support staff to ensure student-athletes meet eligibility requirements and academic goals. Provide mentorship and guidance to promote academic excellence and personal growth.

Program Administration:

Oversee all aspects of the baseball program, including budget management, scheduling, travel coordination, and compliance with college and conference policies. Maintain accurate records of student-athlete eligibility, participation, and performance. Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes sportsmanship, integrity, and respect.

Field Maintenance:

Direct and supervise the maintenance and preparation of the baseball field, ensuring it meets safety standards and provides optimal playing conditions. Coordinate , and schedule routine field maintenance tasks, including turf management, infield grooming, irrigation, and facility upkeep. Procure and maintain necessary equipment and supplies for field maintenance operations.

Community Engagement:

Serve as a positive ambassador for the BRCC baseball program within the college community and the broader Baton Rouge area. Develop partnerships with local schools, youth organizations, and community groups to promote participation in baseball and support the college's mission.
