Micromatic LLC Senior Mechanical Assembler in Berne, Indiana

Position Summary Primary responsibilities of this position include having good working knowledge in the use of precision hand tools and measuring equipment. Work with complex mechanical equipment from single and multiple station applications to full turnkey assembly cells that provide full quality management with no supervision. Provide guidance of Tier I and Tier II Mechanical Assemblers to assist in their progression.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to complete assembly work on automation projects to print specifications.
  • Ability to be the project lead and work with the project team members to complete work on time and under budget.
  • Proficient in plumbing (hydraulic, pneumatic, or lube) to print specifications.
  • Ability to use the necessary precision equipment/tools as required to build of automation equipment.
  • Proficient in the use of other tools, i.e., manual mill, lathe, and surface grinder to produce quality parts to print specifications.
  • Ability to debug and trouble shoot automation equipment during the build and debug phase of the project. Participate in customer runoff activities to ensure project success.
  • Responsibility to offer feedback/recommendations on issues in project/floor meetings and assist in maintaining the whiteboard issues list.
  • Perform service on machines in the field as required.
  • Thorough knowledge of assembly processes.
  • Perform other jobs in the plant as required by the supervisor.
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills.

Education

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Solid math background and skills.
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
  • Working knowledge of the machinability of metals.
  • Thorough knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of welding principles and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of geometric tolerances.

Experience

  • Minimum five years of machining background.
  • Skills in the use of precision hand tools and measuring equipment.
  • Machine/equipment set up experience required.

Mandatory Qualification Requirements

  • Mathematical background and capability to interpret and read blueprints in order to perform necessary functions of machine operation and machining of parts.
  • Physical attributes to perform job functions.
  • The ability to follow and give direction and work without supervision.
