Position Summary:
The Department of Physiology and Biophysics (https://medicine.buffalo.edu/departments/physiology.html) is looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, and organized individual to join our team as a Research Technician to support work on corneal and kidney disease in the lab of Dr. Mark Parker at the Jacobs School of Medicine in downtown Buffalo. Dr. Parker’s lab studies the cellular and molecular physiology of disease processes caused by defective membrane transport proteins and altered pH balance.
Specific responsibilities – The successful candidate will support ongoing and new research activities in the lab including:
Managing transgenic mouse colonies
Performing basic animal and laboratory procedures such as bacterial transformations, DNA extractions, and genotyping
Recording and analyzing results
Maintaining electronic databases and documents
General laboratory maintenance activities
Co-ordinating lab communication with school and UB administration
Assisting trainees in the laboratory

Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Biology or other related field
Experience working as part of a team in an academic research laboratory
Computer skills for data analyses
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently
Willing to work extra hours if needed
Desire and ability to learn new skills quickly
