Position Summary:

The Physiology and Biophysics Department (https://medicine.buffalo.edu/departments/physiology.html) at The University at Buffalo has an exciting new position for an opening as a Research Technician II in the lab of Dr. Brian Weil.

In this position, you will:

  • provide day-to-day support for in vivo research utilizing small and large animal models of cardiovascular disease;

  • assist and advise postdoctoral researchers, students or other trainees conducting cardiovascular research in the laboratory;

  • participate in administrative operations, budgeting, ordering of supplies and preparation and submission of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee ( IACUC ) protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Biology, Veterinary Science or other health sciences field

  • Experience working as part of a team in an academic research laboratory

  • Desire and ability to learn new skills quickly

  • Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently

  • Willing to work extra hours if needed for animal monitoring or care

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Veterinary Science or other health sciences field

  • Research experience in the handling and use of animals and histological techniques (e.g. immunohistochemistry)

  • Experience and/or an interest in molecular methods and experience in large animal surgical methods
