Description
Job Summary:
Performs technically skilled work designing, installing, maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing SCADA systems including RTU, TCU, and radio (RF) modules. Install and maintain antenna and antenna systems and towers, as well as printers and hardware on personal computers and cell phone modules, cell phone boosters, WIFI boosters and microwave systems. Position reports to the Chief Information Technology Officer.
Essential Functions:
Installs, repairs, and maintains the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and related equipment, such as regulators, reclosures, breakers, etc; repairs electronic controls and electronic circuit boards to the component level
Maintains antennas, towers, feedlines and related equipment
Manage inventory
Install and program radio telemetry (RTU) systems for remote control and data acquisition from remote wells, water towers and lift stations throughout the County
Maintains calibration and certification of related test equipment
Install printers and hardware on personal computers
Install and maintain cell phone modules, cell phone boosters, WIFI boosters, and microwave systems
Responsible for assigned vehicle and/or test equipment to be kept clean and in good working condition
Other Duties:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.):
Ability to interface SCADA equipment with computers and networks
Ability to climb towers and water towers to 250 feet without difficulty and work at height
Ability to gain working knowledge of St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission policies and procedures
Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission to the public and to provide courteous and knowledgeable customer service
Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.):
Training and/or Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and five years overall experience in the field of electronics, specifically radio repair and antenna installation
Experience:
Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience
Licenses or Certificates:
Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license, Class C
Maintain Climber Certification.
Ability to obtain Basic CPR and First Aid Certifications within one year
Possess or ability to obtain Data Flow Systems’ Master Technician Certification within one year
Special Requirements:

Physical Demands:
Work requires occasional strenuous effort. For example handling of heavy tools, equipment, and manipulation of antennas and related mounting components, or materials of 30-60 pounds or more.
Unusual Demands:
Work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress which require a range of safety and other precautions, e.g., extreme outdoor weather conditions, confined work space, or similar situations where conditions cannot be controlled.
