CompuCom Level 2 Networking Technician in Chandler, Arizona

Our client is currently seeking a Level 2 Networking Technician to join their team onsite in Chandler, AZ. This resource will work in network rooms, office, lab, factory, datacenters and should be able to communicate by telephone, email, or face to face.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining network environment as part of onsite team in support of physical touch (Smart Hands) support of Network related Service Request, Asset Management and Inventory, Decommissioning of assets, and Material Ordering

  • Providing incident support by working with remote level 2 / 3 teams to assist in resolving outages and fixing issues including replacement of cabling or hardware components

  • Providing service request support and working with remote network support teams to install hardware or patch cables to enable new services for customers

  • Participating in hardware rack and stack installation or decommissioning of both Network and Server equipment, cable management, and Fiber and / or Copper Patch cables

  • Manage the IT assets including coordinating ordering, validation of purchase, physical receipt, storage, software licenses, certificates of authenticity, and any other relevant documentation

  • IT assets must be identified, located, and stored in the approved physical location and within the asset management tracking system to allow for quickly finding and assigning to associated Tickets and Techs

  • Ensure the accuracy of newly received asset record information as well existing asset changes in up to date in our asset management database (ServiceNow)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for creating or maintaining Excel spreadsheets that are used for tracking, reporting informational and metric accountability purposes

  • Accountable for receiving of network hardware or material shipments

  • Vlidating urchase order accuracy of Hardware / material received

  • Moving of equipment from dock to staging areas / install destination

  • Performing unboxing, discard, and recycling of materials

  • Scanning and labeling of devices (network or server) as needed

  • Designate parts identified for spare part stock inventory

  • Proper e-waste handling and disposal

  • Facilitate equipment shipping and receiving as needed (i.e., site to site material transfers, vendor returns)

  • Provide escort service for Vendors / Techs

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Higher education or degree preferred (but not required) or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider 1-3 years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education

  • Minimum 2+ years of IT experience

  • Previous work experience performing Asset management and inventory functions

  • Structured Network Cabling experience

  • Copper: Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Connector Types RJ45

  • Fiber: Multimode, Single Mode, Connector Types – ST, SC, LC

  • WIFI hardware experience

  • Wireless LAN Controllers

  • Wireless Access Points

  • Networking experience

  • IP Addressing, Layer 2 VLAN etc

  • Experienced in Ethernet Switching hardware

  • Chassis, Supervisor, Line Cards, Power Supplies etc

  • Transceiver Types – SX, LX, SR, LR etc

  • Cable Troubleshooting Knowledge / Experience

  • Fluke Testers: Copper - Wire Map, Link Test etc, Fiber – OTDR Testing

  • Fluke Aircheck: Wireless Testing

  • Ability to withstand working in a hot enclosed environment for short time spans required (i.e., data center hot isles)

  • Must be able to perform work while on a ladder (use of ladders is required for top of rack installations)

  • Must be able to work independently as well as in teams of 3-4 and be flexible

  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. solo

  • Must be willing to travel between buildings using personal car / foot

  • May be required to walk / sit / stand / crawl / kneel for extended periods

  • Must have excellent customer service skills and written / verbal communication skills

  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word primarily), Windows 10
