Job Summary:

Senior technical leader that oversees a team of Solutions Architect (SA) responsible for consulting with customers on a regular basis concerning solution design, production, and maintenance of product as part of the Technology Selection pre-sales process. The Sr. Manager, Solutions Architecture also regularly interacts with Americas Account Development and regional Business Development Manager sales leadership, Supplier Management team, Services teams, and some cases strategic customers to support with technical solutions that meet the customer's business objectives.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manages senior technical team responsible for technology selection guidance (i.e. Trusted Advisor), advising on production of integrated OTS and modified OTS OEM systems and ISV appliance solutions per customer requirements.

  • May be responsible for managing addition inside pre-sales technical support engineering resources.

  • Assists and guides team as needed in analyzing data to determine feasibility of product proposal.

  • Resolves all technical and process related pre-sales issues.

  • Confers with customers, field sales, business development, Services business development, and technology group to clarify and/or resolve problems. Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout. Directs and coordinates building/manufacturing of product or system as part of the pre-sales process.

  • Supports supplier roadmap reviews, and may advise and consult customer on change requests, evaluates impact of change, and provides guidance on implementation timelines.

  • May advise on implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) to document and build process. Communicates Engineering Change Notifications (ECN) to production, sales, and customer engineering team as needed in support of assigned accounts.

  • Identifies, investigates, and participates in opportunities to improve processes and procedures, to include various key performance metrics.

  • May manage a variety of product, technical and engineering support functions inclusive of research, design, regulatory, and development of computer software systems.

  • Creates, reviews, updates, presents, manages and/or contributes to a variety of statistical, narrative, financial regularly scheduled and ad hoc written and oral reports and presentations.

  • Reviews assessment of productivity measures, identifies trends and monitors department activity.

  • Identifies, investigates, and participates in opportunities to improve processes and procedures, to include various key performance metrics.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Manages direct managers and/or highly skilled specialists who exercise significant latitude and independence. Often oversees one or more departments or related teams.

  • Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect departments and direct teams. Interprets enterprise-wide policies and procedures. Develops budgets, schedules, account assignments, and performance standards for one or more departments. Responsible for resources and policy formation in area of responsibility.

  • Assignments are defined in the form of long-term objectives. Decisions are guided by resource availability, functional objectives and independent judgment.

  • Collaborates frequently with internal and/or external management. Leads meetings and briefings for internal and/or external representatives. Often coordinates efforts between functional areas and/or members of an extended assignment/project team.

  • Decisions likely have extended impact on the outcomes of multiple departments or teams. Erroneous decisions or recommendations will likely result in critical delays and/or modifications to projects and/or operations; causing substantial expenditure of additional time, people and/or financial resources, and jeopardize future business activity.

Work Experience:

  • Typically 8+ years including 3+ years of management experience

Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • Position requires the ability to travel.
