S-E-A, Ltd. Mechanical Engineer (Automotive - Forensics) in Charlotte, North Carolina

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field investigations and perform failure/accident analysis on incidents involving all types of vehicles andrelatedmechanical equipment
  • Conduct vehicular accident reconstruction and mechanical failure analysisinitially in a support role and later as a project lead
  • Perform calculations, engineering analysis,computer analyses and simulationsand technical reporting
  • Investigate design, safety and failure of machineryandmechanical systems
  • Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Regular and predictable physical presence in the office
  • Long term goal to become testifying expert

Position Requirements:

  • B.S in Mechanical Engineeringrequired, Master's Degree preferred
  • Eligible within six months forP. E. registrationthrough testing
  • Sevenyears of post-academic engineering work experience preferred
  • Vehicular knowledge is required
  • NHTSA, Racing or Vehicle Safety background is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills with spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software is a must
  • Computer aided drawing skills is a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Public speaking experience is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel 35% of the time
  • Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to drive to site locations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
