First Student Program Manager - Leave of Absence in United States

Major Responsibilities

  • Operate as the strategic owner and ultimate point of contact for Field HR Directors/Manager, and the HR Department for all leave of absence requests, accommodations, and related issues.

  • Develop best practices to lead the leave process through the entire life cycle of leave administration, including new leave processing, communication, document review, return to work processes, follow-up, and accommodation requests

  • Develop and manage effective mechanism for seamless monitoring and reporting of leave of absence data. Create and distribute periodic leave reports to senior management and other appropriate stakeholders

  • Manage and evaluate vendor relationships associated with leave process to include contract and service level review

  • Partner with H&W team and Retirement Teams to assure that the LOA impact to the company cost of Benefits is not inflated due to invalid or un-monitored LOA’s.

Minimum Education or Certifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience required.

Minimum Experience or Skills Required

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years progressively more experience in leave of absence administration, occupational health, disability management, or a related HR role that had responsibility for these programs.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of previous supervisory leadership experience.

  • Professional, detail oriented and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a timely manner.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in program / strategy development, trend analysis, vendor management, regulatory compliance, and policy / procedure interpretation and enforcement

  • Knowledge of Union CBA agreements and exposure to Union Leaves of Absences (preferred but not required)
