Description of Duties:

The Facilities Mechanical Design Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

· Design, document and coordinate implementation of building mechanical system upgrades, repairs, and remodeling projects. Mechanical systems include, but are not limited to: HVAC, plumbing, and steam systems.

· Develop specifications, scopes of work, and detailed mechanical design drawings for all projects that are related to the MDIOC facilities mechanical infrastructure.

· Develop projects in compliance with engineering codes and principles, relevant specifications, and customer requirements.

· Be responsible for equipment upgrades and rehabilitation projects as well as extensive modifications and system replacement projects.

· Evaluate and approve design changes, specification and drawing releases related to facilities projects.

· Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.

· Frequently act as the mechanical engineering subject matter expert (SME) on projects.

· Support project managers with coordination of project implementation and documentation.

This position can be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

This position is expected to pay $69,500 - $94,500 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree and 0 years of general experience.

· Must have 3 years of related experience with mechanical HVAC/plumbing systems

· Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering

· Must have a familiarity with engineering standards and building codes

· Must have HVAC mechanical design experience for commercial and/ or government facilities

· Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

· Have experience with mechanical design for facility upgrade and maintenance projects within a DoD environment

· Have HVAC mechanical design experience for data centers

· Have position-specific certification(s)

· Have experience with AutoCad and/ or Revit CAD software

· Have knowledge of and experience with Building Management Systems (Siemens preferred)

· Have knowledge of Engineering Review Board requirements and artifact development
