The team Leader Application Support for Leica Biosystems is responsible for managing the Application Support team and delivering training, installation, demonstrations & support onsite.

Deliver first class technical applications support and training, perform demonstrations of Leica Biosystems Instruments and reagents, with promotion and sales of the LBS product portfolio.

The ultimate objective is to support customers throughout the entire customer journey whilst growing core reagent and product sales.

The role will work in close conjunction with the entire (local) Leica Biosystems team to provide optimal customer support with demonstrations, tenders responses, sales growth and margin. The role will actively drive in increasing market share through effective promotion and selling efforts and by defending achieved market share against competition.

The team-leader provides leadership, coaching and mentoring for the application consultants in the specified region. Advance the professional development, professional conduct, effectiveness and efficiency of staff. Drive application support as a business. The Team Leader is responsible for managing the team, but will be required to perform onsite activities as well.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • People Management

  • Manage, coach, mentor and support a team of Application Consultants

  • Engage and lead the team to achieve and exceed individual quarterly and annual Revenue quota, and other strategic objectives.

  • Onboard, train, develop and coach (new) application consultants

  • Reagents Sales: “Grow what we have”: Generate and develop sales and product awareness of Leica Biosystems Product Portfolio directly through Customer visits & product information, samples and customer trials.

  • Follow-up new Reagent leads generated by marketing activities, product presentations & workshops. In conjunction with the Sales Specialist, plan and implement long term initiatives in order to address specific tactical and/or strategic business needs. Be pro-active in customer visits. Record and actively manage activities in Salesforce.

  • Demo & Support: In collaboration with the sales and application associates of our distributor partners, support demos of instruments and consumables at customer’s sites. Lead customer visits for demonstration. Participate in seminars and meetings as necessary in order to promote existing and new products to customers, in line with the existing promotional programs and strategies.

  • Customer Acquisition and business development: Offer proper support to our partners, Pro-actively research and identify potential new customers in line with strategic directives in order to generate sales and to expand the Leica Biosystems customer base. Key areas to target include current Leica Biosystems users, users of non-Leica Biosystems platforms, Clinical and Research customers. Identify and qualify opportunities to offer consumables and reagents with instrumentation to further increase sales in new market segments. Demonstrate business acumen besides the role of customer support. Record all activities as requested by the (local) management.

  • Market & Competitors Research: Supply information on Market share development, competitor’s activities, trends and market developments in geographic region of responsibility to Sales Management and Marketing. Record customer contacts in Salesforce (where possible) to facilitate marketing requirements. Build-up a deep understanding of the competitors’ products and activities.

  • Training and Support: Performing customer training directly in the demonstration of:

Instrument use and optimization

Software functionality

Protocol development for the customer

Leica Biosystems consumable products

  • Provide technical support, with a commercial awareness, to existing customers as required including in-field troubleshooting of applications problems and diagnosing rudimentary hardware and software failures

    The essential requirements of the job include:

  • BA/BSc in Life Science or equivalent field or Medical Technical Lab-Assistant with relevant lab experience.

  • Strong experience in the histology processing & advanced staining field in clinical, research or industrial setting with a practical focus on IHC. Previous sales experience is a plus.

  • Experience in the optimization, operation, functionality and support of both manual and automated staining instruments and related products is highly desired but not a requirement.

  • Proven experience or ability of working in a Supervisory role

  • Team Leadership, ability to create and drive effective team working

  • Strong commercial awareness at the same time as being a technical troubleshooter

  • Ability to operate in a matrix organization, collaborate without direct influence with peers in sales, service, product and other functions

  • Goal oriented and result driven

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Strong communication skills – able to make presentations in front of different audiences and stakeholders, holding a training class, being exposed to C-level suite when needed

    Travel:

Must be willing to travel up to 60% of the time.
