Description

We are offering a role within the education industry based in Davenport, Iowa. The job function centers around AP Clerk responsibilities, involving the examination, verification, and maintenance of purchase orders, invoices, checks, and vouchers.

Position Overview:

As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient processing of financial transactions within the institution. You will be responsible for accurately recording and maintaining accounts payable records, managing vendor relationships, and providing support to various departments regarding payment inquiries and processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Verify and reconcile invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Prepare and process payments to vendors via check, ACH, or wire transfer in a timely manner.

  • Maintain vendor files, including updating contact information and resolving discrepancies.

  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies or issues promptly.

  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing accruals and reconciling accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to streamline processes and improve efficiency in accounts payable operations.

  • Assist with other accounting tasks and projects as assigned by the supervisor.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred.

  • 2-4 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting role, preferably in an educational or nonprofit environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with vendors and internal stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and understanding of accounts payable processes and procedures.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and exercise discretion in handling financial matters.
