Assistant Professor - Electrical and Computer Engineering

Essential functions (job duties):

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Wayne State University invites applications for the Assistant Professor – Teaching position to start in Jan 2024. Position will report to the ECE department chair. This is a non-tenure track faculty position that offers the opportunity to shape the future of our online masters degree program in semiconductor engineering and make a significant impact on the field of semiconductor engineering. Assistant Professor – teaching faculty position of twelve-months appointment, will start with an initial term of one year with the possibility of renewal. The salary and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Design and deliver online courses in semiconductor engineering, including lectures, office hours, assignments, proctoring exams, and virtual labs.

Work with the department chair and online program director to develop and maintain the curriculum for the online semiconductor engineering masters program.

Collaborate with Wayne State – Office of Teaching and Learning to create engaging and interactive online learning experiences.

Provide academic advising to online students and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts.

Engage in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in semiconductor engineering and online teaching practices.

Serve on departmental committees and participate in other service activities as needed.

Qualifications:

PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related field with a focus on semiconductor engineering.

At least three years of experience in the semiconductor industry or academia.

Experience with online teaching and course development.

Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse audiences.

Commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty members and staff.

Demonstrated research and scholarly activities in the field of semiconductor engineering.
