Job Description AAM is looking for Electronic Controls Software (ECS) Co-Ops to join #TeamAAM at our Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) in Detroit. Our Co-Op Program is a multifaceted, paid experience. This is a Cooperative Education program which requires our ECS Co-Ops to complete 3-6-month rotations throughout core functions within our ECS organization, covering critical competencies like software, hardware, validation and controls. You'll be part of meaningful projects that impact AAM while creating valuable learning experiences.

Our ECS Co-Op Program also offers the following:

Formal education opportunities: AAM offers formal education opportunities geared to develop your technical and business knowledge, which includes potential travel to our world-class international engineering centers.

Mentorship: Co-Ops are assigned a Technical Mentor to provide knowledge, guidance and feedback to ensure you are learning as much as possible during the program. Mentors also help to facilitate connections with other AAM Associates within various functions for additional learning and networking.

Housing: AAM provides a housing stipend for eligible Co-Ops.

Required Skills and Education This co-op will participate in various business-critical functions throughout the ECS group, gaining meaningful experience working alongside our industry-leading engineers. The ideal candidate demonstrates a willingness to learn, takes initiative, and is passionate about automotive technologies, especially as they relate to electrification.

The ECS co-op will be responsible for supporting the following: Assist with the execution of regression tests, unit tests, and mission critical tests for systems and subsystems. Test sections include: Diagnostics, Functional Control, Power Management, Software Flashing Verification, and Vehicle Test. Work with software engineers in developing system unit and integration test cases for maximum test coverage using IBM RQM. Develop unit and integration test procedures and vital fixtures/testers to ensure that products are performing according to customer requirements and design specifications. Build issue reports and discuss results with responsible design engineers. Learn hands-on experience in DV and PV testing of electro-mechanical driveline systems Support the development and implementation of ISO 26262 Functional Safety and A-Spice processes.

Required Skills and Education Pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering Minimum 3.0 GPA on 4.0 Scale Completed one full year of college (rising Sophomore) Willingness and ability to work multiple rotations during your college years - minimum of 3 rotations required Involved in technical groups/projects (SAE, Baja, etc.) preferred Available to work at least 40 hours/week during rotations Knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word Good listening, verbal and written communication skills Detail oriented, able to multitask and prioritize workload Able to maintain confidential information Interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry A
