Job Description SummaryThe Mechatronics CAE Engineer will be responsible for developing physics-based and high fidelity multi-body dynamics models of driveline products (mechanical/electric drivelines, drive axle, PTU, propshaft, etc.) and work closely with electronics and software departments to evaluate product performance, identify risks, and provide design recommendations through design optimization studies in order to ensure product meets customer specifications.

Job Description Job Description Develops multi-body dynamics models for automotive driveline products. Implement control strategies for motors, actuators and perform co-simulation with system models. Implement control system designs in a model based and C code environment. Correlates dynamic simulation results to vehicle and lab data. Conducts modeling and analysis to identify risks where designs may not meet specifications. Performs design iterations and optimization studies to identify best design solutions to meet design specifications and customer requirements. Refine current standard analysis methods to improve prediction fidelity and develop new CAE techniques Participates and contributes to program peer reviews, analytical design verification plan and report (DVP&R), design best practices and lessons learned documentation. Creates and presents analytical reports to internal and external customers. All other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education Master of Science degree in Mechanical or related engineering fields Graduate level course work in dynamics, controls and numerical integration 2-5 years of experience in developing driveline MBD models using ADAMS, ADAMS/Car, AMESIM, CarSim or equivalent 2-5 years of experience using MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape Experience working with dynamic model integration Experience in problem solving, troubleshooting, and quick thinking Knowledge of driveline system functionality Ability to interact with CAD systems, like NX for input to simulation models Preferred computer programming skills, such as C/C++ Visual Basic, Java, Python, Matlab Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Experience in problem solving, troubleshooting, and quick thinking Technical writing and presentations skills Self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and able to work independently About American Axle & Manufacturing As a leading global Tier 1 Automotive and Mobility Supplier, AAM (NYSE: AXL) designs, engineers and manufactures Driveline and Metal Forming technologies to support electric, hybrid and internal combustion vehicles.
