About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a Sommelier to join the F&B Team in Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

  • Supervise and coordinate all aspects of the Beverage operation and administration.

  • Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to continually improve service and offerings for the guests.

  • Development of the wine menu and wine pairings.

  • Be focused on guest service and be a key figure for wine service.

  • Demonstrate leadership by guiding the Junior Sommelier and team to accomplish daily goals and targets.

  • Assists in making and approving the daily wine orders.

  • Ensure the transfers of wine are successfully made between the respective venues.

  • Manages the beverage operations in the venue, thus meeting the quality standards and profitability set by Jumeirah.

  • Ensure trainings are conducted to improve the product knowledge of the colleagues thus motivating and building up the colleagues for career progression.

  • Assists in the implementation of effective sales and promotional activities to ensure maximum revenues.

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role in a luxury 5-star hotel or a restaurant.

  • WSET Level-3 or equivalent degree with exceptional knowledge of wine vintages.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Micros and Sevenrooms.

  • Clear and effective communication skills in English, proficiency in at least one of the following languages preferred: Arabic, Chinese, Russian or any European language.
