Mechanical Engineer

What the day will look like

The role involves a healthy mix of data analysis, problem solving, report preparation and client site visits and spans a range of sectors including container glass, pulp & paper, food & beverage, manufacturing, pharma, and retail.

The successful candidate wi ll work closely with clients to identify , understand and develop solutions for building s , processes, equipment , utilities and business interruption risks .

Support will be provided by senior colleagues to develop skills and experience in areas such as fire safety, process engineering, explosion risk, sprinkler protection, project manag ement and risk control.

Main responsibilities will be:

  • Support clients to help identify , understand, and improve risk

  • Undertake site audits and surveys. Produce reports on site risks and control measures

  • Produce prioritised recommendations for risk improvement

  • Research and development of solutions to technical issues such as sprinkler protection, explosion protection, building design for fire safety, engineering controls for managing ignitable liquids, etc.

  • Review, validate and prioritise insurance company recommendations for risk improvement

  • Provide formal written reports and / or verbal presentations

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

    The successful Mechanical Engineer will have:

  • A n undergraduate degree in Mechanical , Civil , Structural, Chemical Engineering or similar

  • E xperience in the manufacturing industry is an advantage but not essential

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Confidence to present your work in front of a client

  • Proficient in analysing data in Microsoft excel , report writing in Microsoft Word and developing presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Ability to manage your own workload and to work independently

  • Interest in developing your skills through educational support
