About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and operationally-focused supervisor to join our GSH retail team. This is a highly floor-based role within a dynamic, fast-paced environment in an award-winning, flagship retail store, with a strong ethos in excellence for the customer experience. The retail supervisor acts as a continual support for our team in performing their duties and delivering this excellence to our visitors on a daily basis, communicating and liaising with management, maintaining a continual operational awareness and focus, and contributing to our continuing aspiration to be the most amazing place to work. The retail supervisor is located at the very heart of the day-to-day operations within the GSH retail store where the customer experience informs everything that we do. This individual will aim to contribute meaningfully to our work culture and values and demonstrate commitment to their own professional development within a supportive management structure. The appointment will be for a period of 5 months from May 2024 to Sept 2024.

You will be responsible for:

Retail Operations:

  • Supervision of retail operations on a daily basis, ensuring a smooth experience for staff and customers. This covers a broad range of functions ranging from supervising customer flow, briefing staff, maintaining product levels and merchandising standards, and helping to coordinate a large team of approx. 20-30 people at a time in a variety of retail functions and floor area specialisms.

  • Queue and floor management, responding to a dynamic and changing customer flow in an agile and strategic manner, and using effective judgement, in order to preserve the customer experience at all times.

  • Excels in customer service and is able to generate enthusiasm in team members for delivering the same levels of excellence continuously. A dedicated team player who leads by example at all times and supports team members in their roles.

  • Communicates and liaises effectively with management and team leaders, keeping them informed on all operational issues.

  • Engages with all statutory and mandatory training modules, as well as actively seeks out and maximizes own developmental opportunities with the support of management.

  • Assists with the training and support of new staff. Delivers informative team briefs with an energy and enthusiasm that is contagious.

  • Ensures all cash, card and stock transactions are carried out accurately.

  • Is able to prioritize effectively within a dynamic environment that is ever-changing, and can respond to operational challenges with a proactive mindset.

  • Practices astute time-management at all times, balancing current workloads against available resources to maximize effectiveness and drive retail excellence in a customer-facing, customer-focused and customer-defined environment.

  • Consciously acts as an ambassador for Guinness.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Leaving Cert Minimum.

  • Experience within a busy customer facing environment within tourism, retail or hospitality.

  • High professional standards and a desire for career-progression.

  • Self-motivated and able to inspire and motivate others.

  • Excellent operational experience in a customer-facing environment with a passion for exemplary customer service.

  • Be enthusiastic and energetic in the delivery of a world-class retail experience that is worthy of the Guinness brand.
