Position Summary

:

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager repairs, installs, adjusts, monitors, and maintains building HVAC/R, plumbing and electrical systems and performs skilled maintenance and repair tasks of the hospital building systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

:

  1. Monitors, takes readings, repairs and adjust the power house operations.

  2. Monitors, takes readings, starts/stops the cooling plants.

  3. Responds to requests from in-house staff and patients for services, decides appropriate response, prioritizes and implements.

  4. Monitors, adjusts and/or performs minor repairs of the heating, ventilation and cooling systems.

  5. Monitors, adjusts and/or repairs the pneumatic tube system

  6. Monitors, adjusts and/or performs minor repairs to the oxygen system, vacuum system, fire alarm system and fire suppression system.

  7. Perform minor repairs and maintenance on plumbing systems, electrical systems, patient call systems, television systems.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Two years of hospital related building systems maintenance experience or five years of general building system maintenance experience.

  • Must possess valid State of Michigan Operator’s license

  • Must meet approval by insurance carrier to drive hospital vehicles

Preferred:

  • 4th class power engineering certification from NIULPE (National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers, Inc.) or has Third Class Stationary Engineer, licensed/registered by the State of Michigan

  • Certification as a Health Care Mechanic or Health Care Engineer, as accredited by MECH or the Healthcare Facilities Alliance or similar agency.

  • Previous experience in HVAC/R systems maintenance in a health care setting.

  • Previous experience working alone, without assistance.
