J&J Worldwide Services Maintenance Mechanic in Forest Glen, Maryland

Description

General Summary

Performs work in the maintenance and service of various mechanical and electrical systems and equipment at the assigned healthcare facility. Such work includes, but is not limited to, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, kitchen equipment, hot water generation equipment, refrigeration equipment, machine tool, and motor and controls.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance and repairs of installed equipment and systems to include all aspects of plumbing, compressed gas systems, pumps, compressors, blowers, fans and electrical motors

  • Performs or assists in the performance of the following: rebuilding pumps and compressors, replacing bearings and seals, repairing or replacing plumbing systems or components, installing treaded or sweated pipe segments, repairing or replacing refrigeration components, and performing maintenance of installed irrigation systems

  • Performs preventative maintenance as assigned

  • Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience performing the work of a maintenance mechanic of which two (2) years shall be in a medical treatment facility

  • Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software highly desired

  • General knowledge of hand and power tools

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of computer software programs to include Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a government background screen for admittance to jobsite

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certificate in related field preferred

Physical, Environmental and Sensory Requirements

  • Regular exposure to extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, electric shock, moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles, loud noises, chemicals, etc.

  • Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands; regularly lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.

  • Requires use of hand and power tools applicable to trade

  • Ability to maneuver a job site, including small spaces in around our equipment

  • Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
