Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Uintah and Ouray Agency in Fort Duchesne, Utah. Responsibilities Performs a variety of clerical and administrative support duties, including preparing correspondence with a computer or automated systems. Maintains subject matter files and records with record management practices. Receives all visitors and telephone calls for the Superintendent. Perform Timekeeping. Processes incoming and outgoing mail with proper routing. Purchasing supplies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications The following shows the amounts of education and/or experience required to qualify for positions covered by this standard Specialized Experience GS-6: Work experience in an automated office environment that demonstrates performance of a variety of clerical and administrative support duties, including providing assistance to one individual or to several, but in either case serving as the principal technical adviser to all the clerical and administrative support staff of the organization; providing information, guidance, and advice regarding timekeeping, travel, and records management systems; preparing and reviewing correspondence; entering and maintaining financial and budget data using an automated system; receiving and screening all visitors and telephone calls for executive staff or senior officials; maintaining the calendar and scheduling appointments and meetings for executive staff on own initiative based on personal knowledge of their priorities and workload. Proficiency Requirements: Position with Parenthetical Title of Office Automation - In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of 40 word per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet this requirement by self-certifying their proficiency. Experience using automation and computers for supply management is highly desired. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472).
