U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Legal Assistant (Office Automation) in Fort Sill, Oklahoma

Summary About the Position: This position will serve as a Legal Assistant with the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA), Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE) located at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The incumbent of this position will perform a variety of legal and administrative duties in support of the Administrative Division of the OSJA. Responsibilities Assists commanders and their personnel with all matters relating to the administration of legal services. Prepares draft legal documents and various administrative documents for review by various Division Chiefs. Receives legal documents or Administrative Actions from various agencies to ensure prompt, complete and necessary action. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Perform a variety of legal and administrative duties to include filing reports, compiling case data, maintaining databases on various legal issues, establishing and maintaining electronic and hardcopy files, updating file indices, inputting time and attendance; (2) Use office automated systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, Lexis, Adobe, and Westlaw to perform a substantial range of functions within each software type; and (3) Process information for travel related matters to include travel orders and vouchers using and automated travel system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-5). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
