Summary This AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC position, is located in the Egress Systems Shop of the Aerospace Systems Section, Field Maintenance Branch, Aircraft Maintenance Division and is part of the CA 144 FW. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-6652-8/10, is to perform on and off equipment maintenance on aircraft egress systems, such as aircraft ejection seats, extraction and escape systems, egress components of jettison canopies, explosive components of escape hatches and doors, and egress trainers. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position. Areas(s) of Consideration: Consideration is first given to the areas below. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. AREA II= Current California National Guard members. AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment). Military Grades: E-1 through E-6 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Qualifications General Experience: Possess experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components; Ability to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications and engineering drawings; Experience which demonstrates skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks. AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG, 6652-08 (Trainee): Must have 12 months of experience or training in repair and installation of ordnance equipment and components such as launchers, pylons, bomb racks and actuators; Experience which required the ability to diagnose malfunctions; Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring instruments; Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment; Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-6652-10: Must have at least 18 months experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems; Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exist; Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment; Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment; Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications.
