KBR ISA Advisory Consulting provides specialty structural engineering and integrity management services for the energy industry. The company is client focused and prides itself on developing quick, practical solutions by bringing together experience and technical capability.

KBR Consulting is seeking a Principal Consultant to lead the Americas regional Petrochemicals service offering. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team providing consulting services and contributing to business development activities across the full range of the chemical and petrochemical industry clients.

This role will manage a product service line offering, which could include a team of resources, and develop solutions and manage a portfolio of clients and projects.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and develop market offerings to support the growth of the business.

  • Provide consulting services to clients during all phases of an engagement, Feasibility Study including technical and economic evaluation, configuration development and screening, energy efficiency as well as Technical due diligence and Lender’s technical consultant roles.

  • Lead marketing and business development activities to sell consulting engagements of various sizes.

  • Lead and manage consultancy assignments with client organizations whilst controlling quality, cost and client satisfaction, including preparation of proposals, execution plans and budgets.

  • Act as and be recognized as a ‘Subject Matter Expert’ in specific expertise in the following value chains, such as:

  • Commodity Chemicals Production Processes;

  • Syngas Processes; and

  • Prepare and deliver conference papers at international events.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate depth of experience and knowledge the following services areas:

  • Petrochemical market knowledge;

  • Industry competitiveness/awareness;

  • Petrochemicals operations;

  • Specific Petrochemical process technologies

  • Process understanding and modelling

  • Refinery-petrochemical integration;

  • Feasibility and configuration studies;

  • Technology vendors/licensors;

  • Cash flow model analysis;

  • Technical due diligence (for mergers and acquisitions);

  • Lender’s Technical Consultant;

  • Process design;

  • Process operations and improvements;

  • Project execution strategies;

  • Direct sales experience.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Primary degree in Chemical Engineering.

  • 15+ years of industry experience with a specific technical and/or commercial focus in the Petrochemicals industries.

  • Demonstrable front-end consulting experience – including scoping, selling and delivery.

  • Demonstrable experience supporting a continuous improvement culture and identifies gaps, develops work processes, tools and methodologies to drive productivity and growth.

  • Able to work within a ‘seller-doer’ model.

  • Pragmatic personality with customer facing skills – you are comfortable communicating at all levels of an organization and can translate between technical and business language.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong self-starter and motivated to succeed.

  • Excellent communication skills including ability to produce concise reports and presentations appropriate for all levels.

  • Petrochemical operations experience and/or being on management roles within these industries.

  • Client relationships in Americas region (greater Global regions a plus).

  • Travel required: < 20% within Americas, one international trip a year possible (leadership meeting).

Preferred Education & Skills:

  • Relevant higher degree (Masters or others).

  • Knowledge of process simulation (e.g. using Hysys, Aspen Plus, LP).

  • Work experience with an industry company, licensor or technical consultancy.
