Position Summary:

The Painter performs routine, specialized painting, and related tasks to maintain the condition and appearance of Buckingham’s building and facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares various surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, burning, sanding, sandblasting, or other means necessary.

• Mixes, matches, and blends various paints, enamels, lacquers, varnishes, stains, and special protective coatings to achieve desired color, consistency, and drying properties.

• Keeps up general maintenance by use of caulks, putties, cements to plaster holes and cracks.

• Erect scaffolding, ladders, and lifts.

• Knowledge of safety procedures for working on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.

• Determines quantities and requests supplies orally or in writing.

• Cleans and stores tools and equipment as well as the work site.

• Has considerable knowledge of OSHA standards for chemical use.

  Qualifications:

• High school diploma and one year of experience at a level equivalent to journeyman painter or similar work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
