Position Overview:

We are searching for a full-time Estimator II to join our growing team in Colorado. The Estimator II (E2) position is responsible for assisting the company in meeting its goals and objectives by performing take-offs and pricing for electrical projects. The E2 is expected to work with customers collaboratively and respectfully in preparing estimates; with staff, vendors, and subcontractors to perform general estimating and work procurement activities; and with project management teams in supporting project cost estimation.

Regular working hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am-4:00pm in our Lakewood office. Hybrid office/remote working schedules possible following probationary period. This position offers weekends off as well as an enjoyable team-oriented environment. This position offers a competitive annual salary of $65,000 - $85,000.

The Estimator II will possess:

  • BA/BS in construction related field OR State of Colorado Journeyman or Master Electrician License OR relevant combination of training and experience.

  • 3-6 years electrical construction industry experience.

  • Working knowledge of municipal jurisdictional permits, codes, etc.

  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record is required to drive personal or company vehicles for business purposes.

  • Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize work assignments for accurate and timely completion.

  • Interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills necessary to communicate professionally and effectively.

  • Possess a positive attitude toward career development and company process/policy improvement.

  • Ability to pass a preemployment drug screening.

Computer & Language Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required for preparing, analyzing, monitoring, reporting, and presenting and additional computer skills within Windows OS environment.

  • Utilization of Accubid Anywhere, LiveCount, Microsoft Project and occasionally BlueBeam software.

  • Regular use of various FTP sites and virtual plan rooms.

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

Including, but not limited to the following:

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers, peers, supervisors, administrative staff, field craft workers, field supervision, vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors based on mutual respect, trust, and integrity.

  • Preconstruction:

  • Download, name, and check-in bid documents.

  • Complete Project Rating Forms for evaluation.

  • Read, process, record and properly interpret ITB’s and accurately complete necessary bid forms to meet bid deadlines.

  • Estimate labor man-hour, material, equipment, and subcontract costs for projects per contract specifications, drawings, and other documents.

  • Prepare quantity take-offs of electrical systems, infrastructure, and low voltage systems.

  • Prepare detailed estimates including assigning material and labor units to take-off.

  • Prepare bid packages for vendor pricing on specialty materials, equipment, and systems.

  • Prepare for and attend mandatory project walks and/or preconstruction design meetings as required.

  • Consider, solicit, and track small/disadvantaged business participation during the budgeting process.

  • Schedule and lead 24-hour reviews for all bids/budgets/proposals with executive and project management teams.

  • Schedule and lead turnover meetings immediately after award explaining approach, means used and methods applied in preparing budgets.

  • Prepare and review estimate and scope details as needed for contract negotiation by Executive Management.

  • In cooperation with Marketing, prepare content for project proposals in accurate and timely fashion; provide content for presentation materials for customer interviews/meetings; and prepare for and attend project interviews.

  • Collaboratively work with:

  • Operations Manager and project management teams:

  • For construction operations input

  • To address QA/QC/Cx requirements during preconstruction effort.

  • To ensure consistent messaging to customers, vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.

  • VP of Preconstruction and Estimating Manager to improve estimating process and procedures.

  • Pre-Fab Manager to identify opportunities for pre-fab during preconstruction effort.

  • Safety Manager to address safety requirements during preconstruction effort.

COMPENSATION RANGE: Salary Range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

Other Compensation: Eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus in accordance with Company policy.
