SETZER MACHINE COMPANY LLC Metalworking Machinist in Lenoir, North Carolina

To perform this job in our environment the employee must have use of sight and sound for safety. Must have use of both arms/ hands and be able to walk, sit, stand, bend and lift, along with possessing the physical stamina to remain standing for long periods, operate heavy machinery and lift heavy materials. Dexterity and skill operating specialist machinery are a must. THIS IS A MACHINIST POSITION, NOT A MACHINE OPERATOR. THE CANDIDATE MUST TAKE RAW METAL AND BE ABLE TO UTILIZE TOOLS TO TURN THE METAL INTO A FINISHED PRODUCT. REQUIRES 3-5 YEARS CURRENT EXPERIENCE. PAY DEPENDS ON EXPERIENCE. BENEFITS AVAILABLE. Must be able to utilize machine tools like milling machines, grinders, drill press, all types of saws, and lathes to machine parts to specifications. Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers. Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. This Machinist job requires attention to detail, a talent for reading blueprints and charts, study sample parts, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances. Quality work and consistent quality performance are required by our company to exceed our customers expectations. Applicant must have the ability to work independently, and an aptitude in spatial reasoning. The ability to use instruments to fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures is a plus. Must have a valid drivers license to use company vehicles and reliable transportation to get to work. We are willing to train the right candidate that possess a positive attitude, a willingness to learn the trade and be a team player that contributes to team effort. Steel-toe boots are required to be worn by all employees. Other safety wear is provided and required, as well as adherence to all safety guidelines/standards as set forth by our company and North Carolina Law. OSHA Safety training is required/provided, along with all other first aid/safety, health, environmental and fire safety training as required by NC law.
