Position: Assistant Librarian: Full Time Temporary Library Faculty position (10-month)

Starting Date: January, 2024

Minimum Qualifications:

1) MLS/MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library institution; 2) Demonstrated experience in all aspects of acquisitions and acquisition management of library materials in a variety of formats in an academic library; 3) Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all library personnel throughout the life cycle of collection acquisition and management; 4) Evidence of excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Demonstrated knowledge of current issues and trends in electronic resource management in an academic library; 2) Experience working with library management systems (e.g., ExLibris Alma); discovery layers (e.g., ExLibris Primo/Primo VE), and acquisition platforms (e.g., Rialto, EBSCONet); 3) Experience in generating and analyzing collection data; 4) Experience in managing and documenting library acquisitions and acquisition processing workflows.

Duties:

  • Work closely with subject librarians and Collections, Discovery, and Content Management (CDCM) staff to establish effective procedures for receiving library print material, processing related invoices, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Work closely with the Electronic Resources Analyst to establish effective electronic resource acquisitions and activation workflows, and to ensure subscription information in Alma is accurate and up to date.
  • Work closely with the Head of Collections, Discovery, and Content Management (CDCM) and the Library Collection Strategies Committee (CSC) to analyze usage data and utilize metrics, analytic tools, and established evaluation criteria to support data-driven resource development decisions;
  • Manages periodical subscriptions and renewals, including ordering, registration, and activation with publishers, and updating statuses in third-party journal management systems (such as EBSCONet).
  • Provide instruction, updates, and support related to the effective use of Rialto, the librarys primary monograph ordering system.
  • Maintains vendor/publisher records, including keeping up-to-date payment data, vendor contact information, vendor licenses, and other documentation
  • Proactively identifies, investigates, and proposes solutions to inventory or bibliographic problems in Alma.
  • Provides support for de-selection projects, including facilitating replacement and withdrawal decisions.

Salary:

The salary schedule information for the assistant librarian - 10-month Classification is available based on the following ranges: (per salary schedule 7/1/2022)

Assistant Librarian (Range 2): $4,530 - $6,056 Assistant Librarian (Range 3): $5,405 - $11,994 Assistant Librarian (Range 4): $6,190 - $13,172 Assistant Librarian (Range 5): $7,794 - $13,797

The anticipated hiring monthly range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Most new Assistant Librarians are hired at the Assistant Librarian (Range 2) rank. Appointment may be extended/renewed.
