Department Mechanical Engineering

Position: Lecturer: Temporary faculty positions with the possibility of renewal for additional semesters.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at CSU Los Angeles invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered.

Lecturers with expertise in one of the fields of mechanical engineering, such as thermos-fluids, solid mechanics, material sciences, experimental methods and analysis, numerical/computational methods, or robotics, are welcomed.

This is a general recruitment for a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw from as needed.Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

Starting Date: On-going. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must have an appropriate degree from an accredited university (bachelors degree and substantial teaching experience for lower division courses; masters degree for upper division undergraduate courses; doctoral degree, or masters degree and substantial teaching experience for graduate courses). Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a college level. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to join faculty, staff, students, and administrators in our Universitys shared commitment to the principles of engagement, service, and the public good.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master of science or doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field.

Duties:

Faculty will teach existing mechanical engineering courses and/or labs, with guidance from full-time faculty course coordinators, and be available for office hours.

Salary:

The salary schedule information for the faculty lecturer: Academic Year-month Classification is available based on the following ranges: (per salary schedule 7/1/2022)

Lecturer A/2 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056

Lecturer B/3 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 - $11,994

Lecturer C/4 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 - $13,172

Lecturer D/5 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 - $13,797

The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
