11 Mile Truck Frame & Axle Body Shop Repair Technician for Truck & Trailer in Madison Heights, Michigan
Job Description:
- Proficient at metal straightening, fiberglass finish work, overhauling major assemblies& structural repair.
- Possess knowledge of mechanical repair, technical ability to diagnose & correctly repair damage & ability to read and follow repair order.
- Maintaining work order activity reports throughout the repair process.
- Responsible for all ordered parts & repairs assigned as listed on the repair order.
- Examine vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
- Strong Communication Skills: reporting supplemental needs (parts or labor), target date changes, hidden/missed damage, hazardous working conditions, damaged tools, etc.
- Examine vehicles to diagnose repair & assist in repair estimate process.
- Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window-and-seat-operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fenders.
- Fill depressions with body filler.
- Repair/replace frames & section unibody.
- File, grind and sand repaired surfaces.
- Perform all body and fender/panel repairs according to estimate and supplement as necessary.
- Perform welding, soldering, body alignment and oxidizing operations.
- Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Advise Body Shop Manager if additional work is needed.
- Use basic mathematical skills to solve simple equations for mixing chemicals.
- Operate all equipment in Body Shop in a safe and productive manner.
- Perform all repairs to company standards & procedures.
- Must have a good work attitude, cooperation & team work.
- Use discretion in using company materials and supplies.
- Light painting, if deemed qualified and necessary by the Manager.
- Pickup and organize work area at end of business day.
- Understands and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as the disposal of hazardous waste.
Perform quality check on refinish work prior to reassembly.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 5 -- 40 lbs.
Requires moderate to high level of physical activity
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Verifiable work history preferred (3 years of collision & paint experience)
- ICAR or ASE certified preferred and State Certifications a plus
- Understanding and compliance with safety rules and practices as well as posted work rules and procedures.
- Ability to read & comprehend instructions.
Ability to exercise good judgment and critical thinking.
