We are in search of an experienced mechanical design engineer to assist in the development of an advanced water purification device. This role will work as part of a team driving products through their lifecycle including concept generation, component and assembly development, testing and associated documentation. In this role you will utilize your years of experience in mechanical engineering, water quality, and sensor development to create innovations that will positively impact many.iDaily Tasks:iGenerate creative solutions to design problems and demonstrate their viability considering factors such as risk, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, weight and costTransition concepts into products using 3D CAD Solid Modeling, defining requirements, selecting materials and iprocesses, interacting with suppliers and manufacturers, and documenting the development process.Troubleshoot design failure modes to root cause and develop quick, effective solutionsCoordinate with others in a multi-disciplinary team environment including electrical, software, industrial design, and controls.Evaluate designs through prototype testing and requirement verificationTechnical review and approval for all mechanical component and assembly designs, analysis, and testingMentorship of junior engineersNeeds:Mechanical Engineering Degree (or similar) from a 4 year institutionSeveral years of experience in mechanical product designExperience with water quality, sensor development, biology, etc.iHands-on experience with mechanical design tools and software (CAD, FEA, etc) and tolerance analysis.Demonstrated experience with various component manufacturing/fabrication processes (Injection Molding, Sheet Metal/Stamping, Casting, Forging, Machining, etc.) and assembly processesiDemonstrated evidence of individually solving a challenging technical problem requirediiMust have excellent verbal and written communication skillsMust be able to work in an open group environmentPassion for a job well done and an intrinsic interest in how things work
