Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic (2 Positions Available)

Position Summary:

Performs one or more of the skilled mechanical trades of a journeyman level in the maintenance, repair and alteration of University buildings and equipment; performs related work as required.

Required Qualifications:

Education equivalent to completion of twelfth grade. Journeyman Certification from the US Department of Labor or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's license. Ability to work from blueprints. Demonstrated ability to follow and/or interpret oral or written directions. Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image. Ability to perform the essential functions and requirements of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in steam systems and steam trap maintenance may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Performs skilled maintenance or construction tasks of journeyman level in one or more of the mechanical trades. Operates power equipment and hand tools. Maintains swimming pools. Repairs and maintains food service equipment. Repairs and maintains appliances, furnaces, water softeners, etc. Repairs and maintains mechanical equipment and piping systems, etc. Keeps necessary records as required. Request supplies and equipment as necessary.
