Job Purpose:

To maintain equipment to support production; perform initial equipment mechanical installation; make minor machine modifications; maintain a preventative maintenance program; and to keep accurate maintenance records while constantly striving in maintaining a goal of zero downtime. This position will also be responsible for performing facility maintenance.

Key Job Elements:

• Complete understanding of all safety rules, policies, procedures, work independently, able to install or upgrade equipment as needed. (1 year minimum experience);

• Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of manufacturing operations such as broaching, turning, spline rolling, gauging, washing, milling, drilling, grinding, and laser welding;

• Troubleshooting of automated assembly processes such as material handling, conveyance devices, robotics, presses, etc.;

• Minimal supervision required to make machine modifications after initial assignment and explanation of work required;

• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

Must be able to perform the following for the duration of shift:

o Prolonged kneeling, bending, squatting, or lying flat to apply or install fixtures;

o Occasional pushing/pulling objects through openings on unit;

o Occasional climbing stairs or ladders;

o Occasional lifting objects between weight range of 5-60 lbs.;

o Frequent periods of sitting or standing in confined or cramped spaces;

o Periodically walking short and long distances.

Qualifications and Experience:

Five (5) or more years industrial, mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in an automotive machining or manufacturing environment. Journeyman machine repair, toolmaker, millwright or pipe fitter is preferred. • Journeyman’s card or 2 year degree in skilled trade;

• Locomotive Product Knowledge;

• Six Sigma, TPS, TQM and/or LEAN manufacturing techniques training;

• Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical;

• Experience with Motoman robots and CNC controls, Allen-Bradley PLC’s and industrial controls, and Siemens controls as it pertains to troubleshooting machines is required. Experience in programming these is a plus;

• Knowledge of current industrial electrical standards and codes (NEC, NFPA 79);

• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics;

• Ability to read and understand hydraulic and pneumatic schematics;

• Ability to read and understand blueprints;

• General machine rebuild skills required;

• Perform predictive and preventative maintenance;

• Perform other essential duties as assigned by management;

• Knowledge of industrial facility codes and practices;

• Knowledge of AC motors and variable frequency drives;

• Must have experience working with conduit installation, machine supply and control wiring (24vdc to 480VAC), and industrial wiring practices;

• Must have basic understanding of electrical distribution system with voltages from 480-13,800kv;

• Knowledge of arc flash regulations;

• Basic knowledge and ability to use a personal computer;

• Should have basic machining background and/or skills;

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret drawings, standards, and other technical documents;

• Must be adept in measuring instruments and hand tools including scales, tape measure, calipers, dial indicators, welding gages, hand tools;

• Strong problem solving and decision making skills;

• Creativity and adaptability to successfully manage the facility through changing business conditions while achieving objectives;

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interface with colleagues, vendors and shop floor team members;

• Ability to effectively present information to team members, top management, customers.

Must be able to work any shift, including nights and weekends.

Heavy manufacturing environment, subjecting employees to noise, dirt, vibration, hot/cold temperatures, smoke, dust / shavings, chemical elements, outdoor weather.
