Full Job Description

MEP Estimator We are seeking an experienced MEP Estimator who is attentive to detail and driven to succeed. The Estimator is responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on remodel and new construction projects to include custom and commercial projects as required by clients’ proposals, blueprints, specifications, and other related documents to provide complete conceptual and total bid prices. The Estimator works with Representatives and Management to return accurate bids at their request within the time frame and parameters set by the Company. Estimators will be expected to read, interpret, and accurately compute blue prints, architectural specifications such as MEP systems, site plans, floor plans, architectural drawings, elevations, interpret diagrams & schematics, scaling plans, evaluate schedules, measure approximate length, heights, and widths, including circumferences, to calculating square and linear footages.

We have an immediate need for a seasoned MEP Estimator for our Rockville, Maryland location.

MEP Estimator Primary Responsibilities:

• Mentoring other estimators as appropriate.

• Performing quantity take-offs, pricing, scoping, and bidding of construction projects.

• Soliciting and developing relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

• Pricing subcontractor, supplier, and self-performed scopes of work.

• Assessing site exposures/construction risks to appropriately analyze, cost and reflect these in an estimate.

• Assisting in material selection, bid strategy, and estimate presentation.

• Identifying constructibility issues through the estimating process, including coordination between drawing sets.

• Identifying value-engineering alternatives.

• Leading the project team through the estimating process on select projects.

• Responsible for preliminary contract and final estimates.

• Ensure that estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings are accurate.

• Reviewing estimates with project managers, superintendents, and other estimators.

• Tracking and documenting historical data for future use.

MEP Estimator Requirements:

• Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products, Estimating software and subcontractor outreach and document control systems.

• Experienced with all facets of plumbing.

• General knowledge of electrical, HVAC and installation and repair knowledge

• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients.

• Exhibits strong leadership qualities.

• Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent/applicable degree

• 6+ years of experience in Cost Estimating/Pre-construction
