FreeWire Technologies Senior Mechanical Engineer in Newark, California

Utilities are releasing RFPs with requests for battery backed solutions, their regulatory teams are including our technology as eligible for incentives, and they are seeking cost effective solutions as they electrify their fleets and provide utility owned charging solutions for the public. Senior Mechanical Engineer Newark, CA Responsibilities: Responsible for the detailed design and development of mechanical components and assemblies used in advanced electro-mechanical applications from concept to end of life. • Designs and develops products, components, processes, and systems using broad engineering concepts and research techniques. • Documents design specifications. • Interfaces with other engineers, providing CAD design from product inception to released fabrication drawings. • Assists in product bill of materials (BOM) construction. • Provides support of material procurement by interfacing with suppliers/fabricators. • Provides support to other cross functional teams including but not limited to resolving field issues, customer concerns, and others related to the quality and reliability of our products. • Provides support of existing product designs through the production cycle by incorporating engineering change orders (ECO). • Responsible for other duties as assigned. Requirements: • Minimum BS Mechanical Engineering degree. • 5-7 years of mechanical design work experience. • Proficient in the use of CREO Parametric and Windchill. • Change Control Process and Bill of Material experience. • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing described in ANSI Y14.5. • Knowledge of design, DFM, DFX, lean manufacturing methods of sheet metal, plastics, welding, assembly, wire harnesses, electrical-mechanical interfaces. Preferred: • Nice to have an MS in Mechanical Engineering degree. • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Critical thinking ability to analyze complex problems and large technical data. • Ability to interpret FEA, Thermal, and other analytical and physical mechanical test data. • Flexible in the realm of constantly changing priorities. • Proficient presentation skills to explain complex information to non-technical management and other personnel. • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while still meeting deadlines. • Ability to work effectively with other disciplines, including manufacturing to create solutions that address often-conflicting requirements. • Ability to write clear and concise technical documentations. • Acute attention to details and deadlines. • Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and may be subject to changes or amendments to meet the evolving needs of the company. Actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including location, skills, and experience level.
