NJEDA International Innovation & Partnerships Analyst in Newark, New Jersey

Overview

Job Summary

The Analyst serves as an advisor and provides support for the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Office of International Innovation and Partnerships. This job assists the Authority’s international efforts but supporting scheduling, meeting preparation, research, memo drafting, data management including CRM entry, project support, internal document management, and assistance during events.

$65,484 - $81,855

Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a managers approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts research and prepares for international economic meetings including the preparation of materials and briefing drafts. 

  • Works closely with the Senior Project Officer, under the Director of International Innovation and Partnerships, to assist with internal documentation, research, CRM management, international data procurement, meeting planning, presentation drafting, and schedule coordination.  

  • Maintains databases of key contacts in business and diplomacy, relating to NJEDA international economic engagements.  

  • Supports initiatives under the department and works and acts in a support role to assist with the Authority’s Communication, Events, and Marketing teams, and several departments within the Economic Transformation division on an as needed basis.  

  • Attends meetings of the office and creates a database of documents to track achievements, objectives , and follow ups.  

  • Supports varying projects and initiatives designed to advance the goals of the Office of International Innovation and Partnerships. 

  • Provides ideas and feedback relating to projects managed by the office to the Director and the Senor Project Officer.  

  • Assists with customer communication and provides timely responses, offering customer friendly interactions. 

  • Monitors current events pertaining to international economic affairs and New Jersey. 

  • Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers.

  • Must complete annual and semiannual self-assessment as required .

  • Perform s other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Enthusiasm for international relations and a readiness to dive into a diverse array of policy issues within economic development and government relations.  

  • Possess a strong understanding of foreign relations, diplomacy, and international business. 

  • Ability to communicate professionally with diverse stakeholders with a global mindset. 

  • Commitment to collaborative problem-solving. 

  • Ability to quickly research, analyze, and effectively synthesize information across a range of policy and economic areas. 

  • Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently within limited time constraints with little or no supervision. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in grammar, spelling and editing; and foster communications with business professionals and EDA staff. 

  • Ability to support organizational programs and initiatives. 

  • Ability to foster working relationships with business professionals and NJEDA staff. 

  • Ability to communicate professionally in a public forum. 

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff. 

  • Demonstrates respectful behavior and promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers. 

  • NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred. 

  • Foreign language skills are preferred but not required . 

    Preferred Qualifications

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years experience

    A dvanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience

    Physical Demands

  • Minimal

  • Ability to work outside normal business hours, as needed

    Travel

  • As necessary to events, meetings, businesses, etc.

    Certificates and Licenses Required

  • License: Staff are required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position .

    Position Requirements

  • Foreign degrees/transcripts must be evaluated by a reputable evaluation service at your own expense and must be submitted prior to a start date . If this cannot be provided within 21 days of an offer the offer will be rescinded.

  • Must comply with the “New Jersey First Act” which requires employees hired after September 1, 2011, to reside in New Jersey. Non-New Jersey resident employees must relocate to New Jersey within one year of their date of hire and provide proof of residency to Human Resources.

  • Must complete an Outside Activity Questionnaire (disclosure of outside office or employment) on an annual basis.
