Grant Accountant

A client of ours is looking for a Grant Accountant for a contract role. The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit accounting, specifically with grant management and budgeting. As a Grant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with grant requirements, managing grant funds effectively, and supporting the organization's financial goals.

Responsibilities of Grant Accountant

  • Manage all aspects of grant accounting, including tracking grant revenues and expenditures, preparing financial reports for grantors, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

  • Work closely with program managers and development staff to develop grant budgets and ensure accurate budget-to-actual tracking throughout the grant period.

  • Monitor grant budgets and expenditures, providing regular reports and analysis to inform decision-making and ensure financial sustainability.

  • Coordinate grant billing and invoicing processes, ensuring timely submission of grant-related financial documents.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, audits, and grant proposals as needed.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop financial policies and procedures related to grant management and compliance.

  • Stay informed about changes in grant regulations and accounting standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

    Requirements

Skills/Qualifications of Grant Accountant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • At least 4+years of experience in grant accounting or nonprofit finance, with a strong understanding of grant management principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Peachtree) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with grant management software (e.g., GrantHub, Fluxx).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting and restricted funds.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
