    We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for our facility in Oakville, Ontario.

    JOB PURPOSE :

    The Manufacturing Engineer is a member of the Engineering department that prepares work instructions, operation detail sheets, creates purchase orders, designs jigs and fixtures to support production and assist in continual improvement initiatives to streamline manufacturing. This position is also responsible for managing small to medium size contracts.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Develop detailed work instructions including CAD drawings, Inspection Test Procedures (ITPs), and Manufacturing Control Sheets (MCS) to lead the process to manufacture and assemble these complex precision-machined components.

  • Interface with Machinists, Programmers, and Quality Control Engineers to ensure that all manufacturing processes are proven prior to the start of production.

  • Responsible to schedule and lead all Pre-Production Part Qualification samples and managing and leading the team through the launch process (drawings / tooling / MCS, fixtures, inspection plans, etc.).

  • Work with Machinists to drive run-time reduction through Time Studies, Lean 5s events, highlighting waste (inefficiency, rework, improper tool setup) and develop action plans to execute the change.

  • Lead and manage all Process / Engineering Change requests.

  • Design component jigs, fixtures and test rigs.

  • Responsible to disposition non-conformances and create rework instructions to release non-conforming parts back into production.

  • Prepare capital expenditures for purchasing new equipment, processes.

    KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Nuclear Engineering.

  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.

  • 2-7 years of experience in an engineering role in the nuclear industry would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0 and Z299 quality programs is an asset.

  • Expert in the use of 3D solid modeling software; Solidworks is preferred.

  • Experience with manufacturing precision-machined components and related processes including heat treatment, plating, assembly and testing activities.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills to work within a team-based environment.

    The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $60,000 and $93,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
