DEX Vehicle Dismantling Lead Technician

PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for leading the dismantling area and employees to perform required vehicle dismantling tasks on medium and heavy duty trucks.

  • Train, mentor, and direct dismantling and parts detailing technicians.

  • Act as liaison between dismantling team and supervisory personnel

  • Perform cross-functional tasks to support dismantling and production operations as required.

  • Responsible for assisting technical support Engineer in the triage and breakdown of medium and heavy duty trucks

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support vehicle and parts dismantling operations by performing various tasks including:

  • Follow written procedures utilizing required tools defined by process documentation

  • Dismantle medium and heavy duty trucks and assemblies to marketable part number levels

  • Cleaning, inspecting, and testing individual parts for resale in accordance with written procedures

  • Repairing trucks and/or parts as necessary to obtain dismantling flow volumes.

  • Recording and maintaining required documentation

  • Using heavy tools and equipment responsibly

  • Follow appropriate procedures in handling products and using equipment to ensure safety and health in the production facility by complying with established safety programs.

  • Follow training plans and activities as assigned and directed.

  • Possess a strong understanding in the use of various cutting and welding equipment.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized work area.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Possesses strong technical/functional expertise

  • Maintains a basic understanding and knowledge of basic heavy duty truck repairs and services

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for 6-9 hours

  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree in automotive/diesel repair or related experience

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications preferred
