Trinity Health Student Cardiac Sonographer in OTTUMWA, Iowa

Description:

Under direct supervision, participates in the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well being of patients. Participates in all required aspects of the Student Sonography program including academic and hands-on requirements. Performs echocardiograms according to established protocol for adult patients of the Mercy One Iowa Heart Center.

  • Maintains a positive attitude while learning all cardiac ultrasound procedures performed at Mercy One Iowa Heart Center.

  • Performs echocardiograms according to established protocol.

  • Instructs and educates patients regarding the ordered test and prepares the patient for the procedure.

  • Appropriately documents in EHR and billing system

  • Positions patients as necessary to complete echocardiographic exams

  • Monitors patients status during testing

  • Responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information

  • Maintains equipment in designated testing areas.

  • Demonstrates customer service/interpersonal skills.

  • Takes personal responsibility for work, actions, and attitudes

  • Respects patients, peers, clients, students, physicians, service representatives, and other hospital staff

  • Demonstrates positive and effective communication skills

  • Cooperates with peers and leaders to build and maintain an effective healthcare team.

  • Participates in QA activities as directed

  • Adheres to all Joint Commission and IAC accreditation guidelines

  • Completes department competencies in the required timeframes.

  • Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.

  • Maintains a clean and well-organized work environment

  • Operate required vehicle(s) in a safe manner to perform required duties of the position.
