We are searching for an experienced HSE Coordinator at our Palmer HQ facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The HSE Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Company’s Health, Safety, & Environmental compliance program and works closely with the HSE Manager, Human Resources, and employees to promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization. Responsibilities include reporting and records maintenance, development of training materials, auditing, claims management, insurance program data collection, interfacing with employees and third parties, other risk management, administrative, and field worker support as required and/or directed. The ability to maintain the strictest level of confidentiality is a fundamental requirement of the position.

SPECIFIC TASK DESCRIPTION

Support the HSE program and promote a cooperative workplace safety culture throughout the organization through cooperative interaction and positive attitude.

Supports as directed the system wide HSE program.

As directed, assists with the inspection program of facilities, work sites and equipment to identify and correct potential or existing hazards.

As directed, provide analysis and reporting on key HSE metrics to measure MTA’s safety program performance.

As directed, complete research and assist in environmental and safety risk analysis and mitigation plans.

As directed, support the development of MTA Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG’s) for HSE.

As directed, assist with the scheduling education and training for new hire safety orientations and required First Aid/CPR/AED courses, tracking completion, and maintaining records as required.

As directed, support inventory of potentially hazardous chemicals used at MTA, maintaining current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) systems and database of chemical inventory.

As directed, support Worker’s Compensation Program investigation of injury incident, ensure proper and timely reporting pursuant to MTA policy and procedure.

Support as directed investigations, mishaps and vehicle crashes/incidents and initiates behavioral or environmental corrections to prevent future occurrences.

As directed, aids in the assessments and corrective actions for the Ergonomics Program.

As directed, support MTA’s drug testing program, maintaining required drug testing database and DOT driver records.

Support as directed the tracking and preparation of the department’s annual budget.

Support as directed other risk management programs such as business continuity and risk analysis, including documentation, presentation development, research, records management, and scheduling.

Strive to provide a superior customer experience to our internal and external customers.

Stay current on industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes related to health, safety, and environmental management.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

Two or four-year degree in health, safety, environmental, or risk management or related field is preferred. Previous work experience in health/safety/environmental/risk management/administrative roles may be considered in lieu of a two or four-year degree. Professional certification(s) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP, ASP, OSHT, CHST, STS) and National Association of Safety Professionals (MSP, CSD) is desired.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must show demonstrable proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to acquire and administer Smartsheet skills to support generation and maintenance of training presentations, procedure documents and metrics reporting. Should have basic knowledge of the Federal OSH regulations covering telecommunication utilities and general industry. A familiarization with the State of Alaska OSHA supplemental regulations and of the State of Alaska Worker’s Compensation System is desired. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence employees at all levels of the organization. Should have strong analytical skills to help assess risks, analyze data, and develop actionable recommendations. Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines is required.
