Position: Lecturer - Studio Lessons Company: Princeton University Description: The Department of Music at Princeton University may have occasional openings for semester-long, potentially renewable, non-tenure-track lecturer positions to teach in our studio lesson program, for the fall and/or spring semesters of the 2024-2025 academic year. Dependent on departmental need, responsibilities may include some or all of the following: teaching private instrumental/vocal lessons on campus to Princeton University students; review and evaluation of arts supplements in support of university admissions processes; review and evaluation of placement auditions; meeting and providing trial lessons to prospective students; and writing letters of recommendation. Other responsibilities may include programming for faculty concerts, presenting master classes, coaching student soloists and ensembles, and adjudication of juries and competitions. Successful candidates may also have the opportunity to teach a music course(s) subject to departmental need and approval by the Department Chair and Dean of the Faculty. Lecturers perform their own administrative and clerical support functions, including but not limited to coordinating teaching schedules, entering grades, responding to student inquiries, and more. The work location for these positions is in-person on campus at Princeton University. Essential Qualifications: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in music or equivalent experience. They must also demonstrate knowledge and ability in ensemble direction, studio teaching, and repertoire. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a college or university setting, experience coaching soloists and ensembles, and teaching of master classes.
