Summary

This position will be responsible for estimating and preconstruction services which include but are not limited to the preparation of estimates, document review and constructability, cost management and value engineering analysis, systems review, variance analysis and historical cost comparisons, and bid solicitation, receipt and evaluation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Attends Owner/Client interviews.

  • Completes necessary take-offs and prepares estimates during all phases, including conceptual through final construction documents (guaranteed max price).

  • Supports the development of value-engineering alternatives.

  • Supports the preparation of estimate documentation for purposes of Project Team and Executive-level review.

  • Participates in design meetings.

  • Effectively communicates with and solicits appropriate subcontractors for the project.

  • Supports the Identification and solicitation of appropriate subcontractors by project needs.

  • Supports the evaluation and solicitation of bids from various subcontractors, vendors and suppliers.

  • Sets-up project estimates in Kraus-Anderson (KA) estimating software.

  • Maintains and grows professional and technical knowledge.

  • Participates in industry associations.

  • Captures historical cost data and entry to cost modeling forecasting software.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field

  • Knowledge of estimating software, such as: On Screen Takeoff (OST), WinEst and Modelogix

Other:

  • Valid Driver's License, ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record, and comply with Kraus-Anderson’s Motor Vehicle Policy.

  • Clearly communicate information (both written and verbal) to colleagues and key stakeholders

  • Navigate between office building floors, and on occasion, attend off-site meetings

  • Lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
