BAE Systems SCA Warehouse Specialist in Saint Inigoes, Maryland
Job Description
The selected candidate performs a variety of shipping and receiving tasks, including:
Prepares shipments for conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery
Checks items to be shipped against request to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct
Receives and unloads incoming materials and verify accuracy of shipment
Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received
Inspects shipments for damages or defects
Delivers items to requisitioning departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers
Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
Secures wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape, using strapping machine
May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records
May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate shrink wrap machine; may operate company vehicle to deliver shipments
Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $18.92/hr.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County, near to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High School diploma and at least one year of related experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment
Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance
Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers
Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects (50 lbs)
Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel
Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods
Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures
Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
