Jacobs in Central Texas is looking for a Traffic/Transportation EIT. By joining our team, you’ll be a key member of our Civil group in our San Antonio, TX or Austin, TX office where you’ll have the chance to work on challenging fast pace infrastructure projects. You’ll work on a variety of transportation and traffic engineering projects related to traffic operations, safety analysis, traffic signal design, signing design, pavement markings and ITS design. Work will be performed with traffic engineering software including SYNCHRO, Vissim, Highway Capacity Software (HCS) as well as traffic design software like OpenRoads, GeoPAK, and SignCAD

Working on both Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build projects, your value for high quality of work will be highlighted. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing transportation/traffic engineering tasks.

  • Performs basic traffic analysis tasks from data collection and reports analysis results in appropriate format.

  • Performs engineering calculations, sketches, drawings, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignments.

  • Maintains effective communication with project team members and project leads.

  • Conducts independent research into project-related topics in transit, traffic operations, ITS and roadway safety to enhance quality of project solutions and delivery.

  • Assists in preparation of technical reports.

  • Research federal, state, and local government standards and regulations.

  • Provides periodic project presentations to team members.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • Engineer-In-Training certifcation

  • Previous experience in traffic/transportation engineering

Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:

  • Previous experience with traffic software including Synchro, Vissim, or HCS

  • Experience with design software (i.e., AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads etc.)

  • Previous experience with GIS and Google Earth® Pro

  • Familiarity with Highway Capacity Manual, MUTCD, Highway Safety Manual

  • Previous work experience with TxDOT and other Texas municipalities

  • Experience assembling and reviewing construction drawings and specifications
